My wife and I both left the key in the house today. In a hurry, I called a doggy company to open the lock without doing much research online. It turned out to be a big big mistake. I requested a quick quote but the company claimed they needed to check the difficulty of opening the lock on site to give a quote. So the fake locksmith came after 40 minutes. He came out from a white BMW and tried to use a tool like a screwdriver to open the lock. After several attempts, he said the lock was hard to open and requested to break the lock with a drill and a charge of about 200 pounds to remove the lock on the door, not to mention another extra charge of 80 pounds of a new lock. We refused his services with that unacceptable quote and then unexpectedly, he insisted on charging us a cancellation fee of 49 pounds and gave me an invoice to sign. At last, I just gave the guy 40 pounds in cash so that he could feel a bit better to leave the house. During the drama above, my wife contacted Larry and Dean and gave her a reasonable quote. They came in 20 minutes and opened the door in 10 minutes without breaking the lock. When we left the house later, we found out that we could not fit the key into the lock anymore. So we called Larry and Dean again. They arrived with their vans in 30 minutes and professionally opened the door. They found that the lock was damaged with a piece of metal clip from a pen inside the lock, which was deliberately put by the fake locksmith. Dean carefully replaced the lock with a new one and Larry patiently taught us how to use the new lock. They charged me another very reasonable price for the new lock only. Sorry for the long words but there are many scammers or fake tradesman out there. Larry and Dean said they were once banned by google map for whatever reasons and doggy sponsored companies are all over goggle in your urgent search. We highly appreciate the prompt assistance of Larry and Dean and recommend their services to all locals in Harpenden.
